It's so annoying because like you, I made a list of everything I wanted to do and have been going like crazy to get things done. I even made an earlier appointment to take the dog to the groomers which now I have a dilemma. Do I take him again before he really needs to go and spend the money, or do I just leave him and have my fiance come home to a not so clean dog? Things like this seem so silly, but they all matter! At the few we've been at (Riley/Lewis/Eglin), if your spouse is deployed, you can bring in two forms of ID, and a copy of their deployment orders, and they let you replace your ID if you don't have a POA.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7847873995709228069.post-37089365834000304272011-03-08T11:49:22.408-06:002011-03-08T11:49:22.408-06:00Oh my gosh! It is exactly how I felt during my deployment and then some!

If I had any USMC sense, I would have remembered to verify the hours of operation for the ID card/DEERS dept on the the Naval base before showing up to get my new ID. I also would have remembered that it was going to expire before making it all the way through the checkout line at NEX and having them take away my ID in front of everyone! I also would have remembered to figure out how to get on base without my military ID and verified that I could in fact do that.... Sigh. :)

I also would have remembered to put the husbands orders somewhere logical so that I could find them all million times I needed them while he was gone. You would think I would have learned that lesson the first time, but for some reason, I just didn't think I would need them again... Dumb, I know.

And I would for sure have learned to not believe any thing I hear... they never come home when they say it's going to happen. :( And it's high time I learn to stop getting me hopes up. I think I"m going to tattoo the phrase, "the only constant in the military is change" on my forehead so that I remember next time. :)

And I for sure will get a cleaning service next time! Great idea!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7847873995709228069.post-32989176786562755892011-03-07T23:02:55.226-06:002011-03-07T23:02:55.226-06:00I would have to agree with the "getting your ...I would have to agree with the "getting your hopes up." My husbands last deployment was a nightmare. I got a date that he was coming home, then two days before that, its pushed back two. then three. then a week. I should have known not to get my hopes up either. "Hurry up and wait." I believe thats the army's motto.

Something I can add to the Army Common Sense.
DONT start a countdown at 200. You'll go absolutly crazy before you even get out of the tripple digets.
