Someone asked me where I was from the other day, and I didn't know how to answer.
I was born in Australia.
Grew up in Houston.
Went to college in Waco.
We've been stationed at Hood, Germany, Ft Lewis, Hood, and now Carson.
My parents don't live in Houston anymore.
I'd hate to say my hometown is Killeen.
Do you get to just pick somewhere? My favorite duty station?
Gunner is an Air Force brat, so he's lived everywhere, but spent the most time in California.
So do we even have a hometown? How do we know where to go from here?
What's your hometown, and how did you figure it out? (Really, I do have more important things to worry about, but I just never know how to answer this question!)

My family wasn't big on moving. Actually, me and one other cousin are the only ones to move out of the state of Kentucky so far, if that tells you anything. But to answer the question, Bowling Green, KY (home of the Corvette!).
Glad I'm not the only one who can't answer this question. Born in Portugal, the Azores to be specific. Then I've moved 16 times since then. I just say I'm a Navy kid and that seems to answer the question well enough.
I never moved from my hometown (except during college) until Sean and I got married, so that question is easy for me.
I'm from Bartlesville, Oklahoma (where Phillips 66 company originated).
On a different note, I had no idea you were born in Australia!
An easy one for me because even though I moved around a lot, it was mostly in the same general area. I'm a native of Green Bay, WI and a mild transfer to the suburbs of Chicago, IL (where my children are "from").
Ugh, I have recently come to HATE being asked "Where are you from?" I guess it's a milspouse thing. I grew up in a super-small town in Oklahoma... Then I got married and we moved to North Carolina, so I feel like that's sort of home for me too. It's odd, really. When someone asks US where we're from, we usually say North Carolina. If someone asks ME where I'm from, I say Oklahoma. Haha. =)
I have moved over 40 times in my 27 years. I was born in Aurora, Colorado but left at one. Being a Air Force and Army brat now gone Army wife its been difficult when asked this question, but like or not I always reply Tarkington Prairie, Texas because I was there the longest.
This one is easy for me. I was born and raised in Sacramento, CA. The only time I lived more than 20min away was when I was in the Army. No matter where I live, this will always be my home town. :)
I can easy answer that question. I'm from a small town in Missouri. The majority of my family still lives there. I moved when I was 20 and haven't gone back. Home is where hubby and the kids are though.
I call Las Vegas, NV home. I lived there the longest part of my life and did most of my growing up there. That is where I will call home for a long time. My parents no longer live there, husband's mom no longer lives there, but that is where we are from.
That's an easy one for me! I have lived in the same town, in the same house since I was born. Can't wait to have a new place to call home when my husband comes home in 7 months! Anyways to answer the question, Newark Ohio.
Growing up, we moved every 2-4 years (non military). I didn't find my hometown until I went to college. That is the first and only place I've ever been sure is my hometown.
Even though I didn't move there full time until I was 20, I still consider it my hometown.
I lived in the same town until I was 12, and then moved to a small town near Atlanta. I did most of my growing up (by that I mean became an adult, met my husband, had my first kid, etc) so I just tell people I'm from WV but grew up near Atlanta.
We moved around until I was in 2nd grade and then I moved around when I married Gary. My parents however retired in Cove and we live here again. I think I will always be a Covite even when we move to MO. :(
I figure it is whatever town you wish you cold move back to.
My hometown is where I lived from 5-18. Then I moved north and lived there until I was 26. Sometimes I call that place home since that was where I met my husband, had my oldest son and made a ton of friends.
I grew up and lived in the same town until college so answering that is easy, for flyboy however, I have no idea how to answer this. He was a Marine "brat" and so I just say that. His parents retired to where they grew up but he never lived there so he doesnt feel like thats home at all. He's from all over I suppose : )
How's life in your neck of the woods? Things have been crazy here with illnesses I keep meaning to email.
I hear ya! I have the same issue! Born in Italy, grew up in the military, married military and now after all these years, the longest I've EVER lived in one spot was 4 years...and that was high school!
BTW, love the blog!

I was an Air Forse brat and lived overseas again after I was married. I just say I am a native Texan.
We usually tell people Ft. Walton Beach, FL. Neither of us were born or raised there but it's where we started our life together. It doesn't hurt that it's a short, easy answer. (Unless someone wants to know about his accent, of course. He grew up in North Carolina.)

Military brat born in Japan. Military Veteran and Milspouse. Lived in Japan, Germany, MD,NH,ME,MA,CO,FL,MS,TX and Guam. I have been to 41 of the 50 states and I can't list all the countries. I carry my hometown around inside me. Where my husband is. That's home.
If someone asks you that question, you should tell them Texas. It's the last place you lived and where you spent your formative years. If they ask where then tell them both Houston and Central Texas naar Austin. However, if you're on vacation and someone asks you that you should tell them Colorado Springs, CO.
Don't overthink it since most people really aren't listening anyway. I know I'm not most of the time when you talk. You were born in Australia!?
Where in Australia??? I'm in Brisbane, Queensland. My parents are both American (I was born and raised going back and forth between the states and australia) and the majority of my family still lives over there but i'm here with my Aussie Mil partner. We're thinking of making the move to the states soon tho I can't wait to show him all the states has to offer.
