Milspouse Friday Fill-In

Okay, so I haven't done this in forever, but I'm joining back in...

1.What do you usually want to know about someone when meeting them for the first time?
Want to train for a triathlon/race with me?  I'm horrible at meeting people, so I do usually start with where are you from or how long have you been here.

2.Would you rather know everything about your spouse, or be regularly surprised?
He continues to surprise me after 16 years of marriage.  I wonder if I continue to surprise him or if he has figured me out.  Gunner?

3.If you could live in one city for the rest of your life, where would you live?
If money wasn't an option, I would choose NYC or Seattle.  If we have to be realistic, I like Colorado a lot.

4.When you go out of town, what one material thing do you ALWAYS take?
My cell phone.  If all else fails, I can snap pictures, talk to people, get on facebook, and blog.

5.Using no more than 10 nouns, and ONLY nouns, describe yourself.
Ten nouns?  Ummmm.......triathlete (not the best, but I am getting there and enjoy it), mom, wife, professional student (I love going to school, and the abundance of degrees that I don't use....well....maybe someday), blogger, friend....having a hard time coming up with more......biggest fan to my husband and kids, procrastinator, military wife, and teacher.

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In (a little late)

I was just going to say screw it and not blog today, but I am trying to do it.  Just had a rough day.  I at least hit crossfit 5 times this week.  It's starting to be my saving grace.

1.  Were you named after anyone?  Nope, not that I know of.  Queen Elizabeth was visiting Australia when I was born, so that is my middle name.  I always knew I had a little bit of royalty.

2.  What color, if any, are your toenails usually painted?  If I am paying someone to do my toenails, I am going to make them work, and I get french tips.  I'm not much of a color person, and I never have my nails painted.  If I paint my nails, on that rare occasion, they are a maroonish color.  (Don't let that make you think there is any Aggie in me!)

3.  How do you flush a public toilet?  Hands?  Feet?  Something else?  I am a germaphobic person.  I use my foot or toilet paper to do it, then wash my hands, turn off the water with a paper towel, use the paper towel to open the door, and I still sanitize.  It's okay, I know it's weird.

4.  When you were a little kid, which TV character did you have a crush on?  Are you ready for this?  Ricky Schroeder in Silver Spoons.  My sister and I used to watch that show all the time.

5.  Let's say you had to lose one of your five senses.  Which one would you choose and why?  Definitely smell.  Why?  Because then maybe I wouldn't smell that Junior pooped in his pants and it would bother him.  My first pregnancy with Em, my sense of smell made life awful.

There you have it, five interesting useless facts about me.

Time for bed, it's cold and we have OT bright and early in the morning.

Milspouse Friday Fill-In

1.What is a weird/funny superstition that you have? (from A{muse}ing Mommy on a Pink Park Bench)
I don't have any superstitions I don't think, but I do put my left sock on first, put my left leg in pants first and put my left shoe on first.  Okay, maybe it's a little weird.

2.What are your hopes and dreams for the years AFTER the military? After all, we aren’t in it forever! (from Stetsons, Spurs and Stilettos)
The after part is coming up sooner than I would like to think about.  I just want to travel, do things, and have fun.  Since this is right around the corner, I need more direction than that, so it's on my list of things to do.

3.Since [this] month is National Apple Month (no really!), I’d probably ask: What is your yummiest apple recipe? (from NH Girl Displaced)
I don't eat apples very often, so I can't help you there!

4.How long have you gone as a military spouse without talking to your husband/wife during service? (from A Navy Princess and Her Little Sailors)
Two months.  When they first got to Iraq and they were living in tents, pulling missions all the time, and phone service sucked.  He called once for 5 minutes near the end of the two months, but we couldn't understand anything.  That's why when I say it's okay if he goes a few weeks without calling, I really mean it.

5.I occasionally watch When I was 17… on MTV. So, what was something that was significant about your 17th year of life? (from Ashley Amazing)
I started college!  I headed off to Baylor with a ton of hopes and dreams.  I worked as a lifeguard and at the bakery.  I mowed lawns, and picketed all the money.  I still knew I had to save back then!

Milspouse Friday Fill-In

This week’s questions are
1.What is something you wished you’d learned to do earlier in life?
I wish I had learned to ski.  I've been a couple of times, and while I have gotten better (trust me, it was hard for me to get much worse), I would love to be able to swoosh down the slopes.
2.What is your biggest pet peeve with the military?
Deployments are starting to wear me a little thin.  I'm all about Gunner doing his part, but why has he been gone 3 years in Iraq and now to Afghanistan, when some guys haven't been yet.  My friend asked her ex's CO that same question because hers never deployed.  He answered with "You don't want an idiot with you".  While that doesn't apply to all people, how do you make it an entire enlistment and not go anywhere?
  1. What tourist attraction near you have you never seen?
That's easy to answer since we have only been here a year.  I haven't seen Pikes Peak, with the kids.  I saw it when I was 7, but that was years and years and years ago.
  1. What are you avoiding doing right now?
Folding laundry so I can go to bed.  I dread folding laundry.  It's not the actual folding, but the delivering and putting away, which if I don't do, I see the same clothes in the laundry again.  A never-ending cycle...
  1. Wine, beer or liquor?
I like it all, but lately it is wine.  I loved the beer in Germany though!
