Texas Pride

One of the first things I noticed when we moved to Colorado was the lack of the state flag being flown everywhere.  Also, not everything was painted in Colorado flag colors.  What's up with that?

Maybe Texans take it a little far?

I never see the outline of the state of CO on signs.

Have you ever seen a barn painted like the CO state flag?

This was just the first one I got a picture of out the car window with Gunner zooming by.  We must have passed about a dozen or more.

Then there are storage barns.

There were signs.
And more signs...
There were tons of signs.  If signs aren't your thing, you can have a planter.
Or a mailbox.  Or a windmill.  Or almost anything else you can think of.

Flags in almost every town.

If you want to decorate your bathroom, rest assured that you can get a Texas shower curtain, and matching towels, toothbrush holder, etc., at your local Walmart.

Are there other states that go to the extremes to show their state pride?  But, hey, don't call these people freaks, as I grew up in Texas (although I was born in Australia!).

All the states of the south have their road signs in the shape of their state... even Florida. Imagine Hwy numbers wedged into Florida! Don't forget that in Texas you can buy crackers, chips, pecan pies, and cookies in the shape of the state.

No, Texas is definitely the only state that does that. When Al and I drove back from El Paso to Minnesota (yes, we did that together and survived the 40-odd hours), Texas was DEFINITELY the only state that does that. I love Texas!

That's hilarious. Shoot, I was born and raised in Florida but I have no idea what Florida's flag looks like. I'm not sure I EVER saw it. And now I've been in Tennessee for ten years, and I don't know this one either. Maybe I'll google it. LOL!

Don't forget about all that Texas love that is built into every single container of Blue Bell Ice Cream. I'm VERY sure that no other state loves their ice cream the way that we do down here. Amen.

I would be hard pressed to tell you what's on the Michigan flag, although I think it involves a deer? Definitely Texas stands out for the love of their state, although I love being able to hold up my hand and show people where I'm from, lol.

I think the thing that bugs me about living here is all the people with bumper stickers proclaiming they're "native" which seems sort of elitist to me, but maybe I'm just sensitive!

texas does seem to like its flag. Of course I grew up in MD and its flag is like a damn puzzle so maybe thats why we dont paint it on much.

Haha.....You are right! Here in Washington they have the profile of George Washington on a lot of road signs. Our flag is pretty boring to use on signs and painted on things like in TX!
