Best Wishes for Gunner

We are still alive and living among a sea of boxes.

Gunner is still here.

My ankle is not broken, but I did strain it, and am in pain.

I was hoping all my followers would leave some words of advice for Gunner, or well wishes, or something before he leaves soon.

I'm sure he'd love some encouragement.  So comment away, and let him know you care!  Thanks!

I am a new follower and but also am a military wife. Although I haven't (yet) to face my husband being deployed, I can only imagine what you are going through. I hope Gunner has a safe deployment and that you and your children do well also during the time apart. Please tell him I said thank you serving our country. Thank you also for all the sacrifices you are making as he is off at war. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Good luck, Gunner! I pray that this deployment goes quickly for you and your family. I'm sure after this many, you don't have to be told to "stay safe." =) Most importantly, thank you for your sacrifice. My husband is in the Army as well, and I am proud of all of our Soldiers and service members. So, thanks and return home soon!!

Hey, Gunner...

Stay safe, stay low, stay sane. Call your wife when you can...

And know that I am not the type of person who normally falls for anyone over the internet but I have fallen for your family. You guys inspire me almost every single day with your strength, your dignity, and your unbelievable ability to cope with your deployments the way you do.

Know that there are an endless number of us out here who are so very thankful for you and those like you who have answered their country's call. We can never repay you.

Okay... enough of the schmaltz.

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers while you're gone.

Although we didn't meet when ABW was at Hobby, I thought I would say something anyway.

Gunner, your family has been through this before. So, have peace of mind that they will do well while you are away. Keep your focus on your mission so you can come back safely. We all want to read about your reunion next year.

Thanks for all you do for our country.

Best wishes,
Mrs. Victory

good luck gunner! You have an amazing wife and adorable kiddos who will miss you but no doubt will come thru this deployment like champs. Granted ABW might be covered in poop before your plane even touches down but hey, such is life.

keep your wits about you and stay safe!

Dear Gunner,
If you can figure out how to talk Abs out of dumping out a new bottle of shampoo, I have no doubt that you will be able to talk the Afghans into peace. Good luck with both. :)

Keep your head up and stay safe! ABW has a strong support group of military wives to lean on during your deployment. God Bless!

I'm Mrs. S. I love ya'll's blog and am still quite the newbie to the military. My hubby has been enlisted for a little over a year and we have not yet had to face deployment. Just know you both have great support from all over and countless prayers! Stay safe, chin up, and come home soon :)

I know that I am not the first to comment, and I did not read the other comments that have already been posted here. So I'm sorry if this is repetitive, but ...

"Gunner, I just want to thank you straight from the heart for your brave service to our great nation. We are often criticized and I know that you are sometimes berated or insulted because of your choice to serve in the United States Army, but for what it's worth, please remember as you fight for our nation and for the rights of those in less fortunate nations ... There are so many who love and appreciate each and every one of your sacrifices. On a hard day, come back here and remember all the people back home who can't wait to hear that you have safely returned home to your sweet wife and beautiful children."

"ABW ... I know this wasn't supposed to be about you, but as a woman fast on her way to being a real live Army Wife, I want to thank you, too, for your sacrifices and for all that you go through in order to support your brave and strong husband. Each and every entry that I read here amazes me and I am inspired to become stronger, more resilient, and more supportive for my own soldier who may someday see the sands and the dangers of the middle east. Thank you so much for blogging about your experiences for newbie like to me to learn from."

"Em, Abs, and Junior ... Plain and simple, you three are amazing children who are incredibly brave and strong because of what you have been through in having a father who loves his service to our country. Be strong for him, encourage him, and always let him know that there is someone who just can't wait to see him again. Remember that this is hard on your daddy too, but that he loves you and that is part of why he has to do this. Remember to be insanely proud of him and his service, because even though he is no Babe Ruth, or Michael Jordan, your father is truly a hero."

Gunner- I'm so glad that I finally got to meet you and your wonderful family! Lots of prayers and well wishes to send you on your way. Be safe, return soon and hopefully the next time we meet will not be running up a mountain!

There are so many things to say, many already have. So I'll offer this perspective so I'm going to assume you're a lot like my man in his views on serving. If so, you'll take comfort in this...

We all know it's hard to leave your family, but remember that you leaving means someone else gets to come home.

For me, on the tail-end of deployment, that means the world. You already know what you're doing for your country and your military. But even in the smallest way, by you doing your job, you're freeing up my family to return.

For that I am eternally grateful.
Consider yourself hugged!

Gunner, I know you have 'been there, done that.' Stay safe and keep your head down. I will pray for you and your family every night just as I do myself, my husband and all other military families. Your service means more to me than you will ever know. Thank you for your sacrifice and thank your family for their sacrifics.

Jessica!

Godspeed, Gunner. Make us all proud - and thankful - of the US military.
And enjoy the bits of the deployment you can.

Know that you are held in many hearts and we are so grateful for our military. I worked a polling place one recent election. I thought about how there are so many places where you cannot vote safely. Here we have no worries at all that there will be riots or reprisals or it will not be safe to vote. You make that possible and I know your mission is to make that possible elsewhere, so our country will be even safer.

Now I say, "Safe Journey!" I look forward to the day I say, "Welcome Home!"
