I was in a slump and hating Colorado, but I am beginning to turn it around.
I think it was my lack of activity. A big part of my life in Texas was training and racing with fellow teachers and friends.
I have a race with a friend scheduled this next weekend. Today was the half marathon with Gunner.
I joined a running group, and there are plenty of opportunities for me to run, if I just had the time!
The girls will start a new school that I am really excited about, and they are too.
I will visit Texas in the next two weeks, get my fill of mexican food, take the girls to camp, see friends and family, and return home to Colorado. Home.
Sometimes it takes me longer to settle into places than others, and while I won't say that I am ready to stay in Colorado the rest of my life (there is a state income tax mind you!), I can say that I will make the best of my time here.
There's plenty to see. Plenty to do. I need to get over my shyness and get out there and enjoy everything that this state has to offer.
This is the first time we have PCSed and the girls are old enough to remember me putting myself out there and making a new life for ourselves. I need to show them that you can make every place that you are, a home.
Now if I could just teach them how to match socks and clean their rooms...

I am from Colorado so of course I love it here :) There is SO much to do and SO many races! There is even a race this weekend at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo 5K or 10K run up to the shrine. Have you been to the zoo? It's pretty great. Let me know if you have any questions about things to do and if I don't know I'll ask around for you. We have to move in August and I am going to miss my beautiful Colorado so very much. Hope it continues to grow on you :)
I took a longer than usual time for me to adjust to and embrace our current duty station. After some adjustments to our living situation (trading our big off-base house for the conveniences of base living) I have come to love it here, if only for good friends and staying active. It sounds like you're getting a good start, so good luck!
I love it here in Colorado. There really is sooooo much to do especially if your into being outdoors. You have to check out the Royal Gorge and walk across the bridge. It's amazing. Maybe trying bar trail (which goes up to the top of Pikes Peak. or maybe to bar camp which is 1/2 way up)would be up your ally too or maybe the Manitu Springs Incline seeing that your into running and stuff.
I think it's great that you want to show them an example of that independence - even if you'd rather sit inside all day and sulk (as we all would sometimes.)

I hear there is so much to do in Colorado... I am sure you can keep busy & make friends easily! I am from Texas but we are PCSing to Colorado before this year is over. I will be in your shoes, can't wait to hear more about what it is like there compared to here (in TX.)

How fun! I think that's my problem here in GA. I don't know anyone and don't really have a way to meet anyone so I have my "bad" days where I'm just moping. My hubbs lived in CO for a few years and loved it.

It always takes me awhile to get acclimated to a new duty station. I always feel like if I *love* the new location right off the bat then I'm cheating on the old duty station! LOL! But I guess what makes us great Army wives is that we bloom where we are planted! ;)
I am so excited about the race!! (especially now that I have a sitter). I'm glad things are falling into place for you, it's just plain hard to pick up and start all over again making a life. Sometimes I just get tired of it, too.
