If you have curly hair, how do you keep it from being frizzy? It's not as bad in Colorado, but now that it is raining every afternoon, I need a solution and fast. I've tried all the curly shampoos, conditioners, gels, and mousses. Maybe I am just doing the wrong combo? It there something new out there? I have curls and curls and curls. Millions.
Potty training--The doctor told us to forget about it for a while. We are trying, but it is hard. He totally will not do it at all. I'm sure it's a power struggle, but what can I do for him to get over it and pee and poop in the potty. We tried stickers, treats, books, cars, prizes, you name it. I remember my mom telling me that my Grandmother thought I should spank him every time. I still won't do that, because I know he won't possibly go to college wearing diapers, but I am not so sure he won't be wearing them to kindergarten. I am open to any and all suggestions.
I want to move my garden with us. Gunner thinks this is ridiculous and a waste of time. I am thinking of all the money I have invested in it, not to mention time! Tell me I am not crazy.
A gross story--the dog kept going after things that were digging holes in our yard. We figured he would never catch the moles. Ummmm....he caught one, it wasn't a mole, and he managed to get the bloody carcass into the house. I turned around and started screaming. This lead to the girls screaming and Junior screaming. Gunner walked over, plucked it out of Sammy's mouth and throw it away, while holding his breakfast in the other hand. Ewwwwwwww......My solution to prevent it from happening again? He has to be supervised at all times. Let's hope the next place doesn't have giant rats.
If you ever see me in a store and I am buying a material possession, please knock me upside the head and escort me out of the store. I do not need anything.
Gunner told me last night that saying goodbye to Em was really hard. She kept telling him "don't say anything else or I'll start crying". Poor kiddo, headed off on a big adventure but in the back of her mind she knows it will be a long time till she sees her dad again. What does every tween pack for London? Cute clothes, diary, toiletries, and her daddy doll.

Curly hair, I actually have shirley temple curly hair but I get it chemically straightened now but the Frizz-Ease line worked great! Especially the purple bottle serum, and the curl lock spray and weather-proof gel!
For silky curls, this stuff cannot be beat. I use it after I am done drying/styling. It locks all of the curls in place and tames the frizzy flyaways we all get:

For face wash, the Neutrogena Grapefruit Scrub cannot be beat. It banishes oil and other yuckies but doesn't totally dry you out. It works great for me, even though I have pretty sensitive skin!
I'm also in CO, and also have curly hair. I've gone through a lot of products to find what works for me because I also have sensitive, stupid skin. I use the Aveno nourish and soothe shampoo, and the Pantene beautiful lengths conditioner. Neither break out my skin and don't feel heavy on my head. After light towel drying I use the Aveno nourishing leave in treatment. I tried the John Frieda stuff too, but it was too heavy for my curls and just looked greasy or crunchy. I sometimes use the Aveda Be Curly leave in stuff, but very sparingly, a little goes a long way, and I hate crunchy curls.
For my face, I use a simple St. Ives Apricot scrub, and that's it. No soap. Followed by moisturizer, I think it's an Oil of Old Lady moisturizer for the face. I like the Neutrogena moisturizers too, especially at this climate.
For potty training, my son did this too, and I used pullups while he refused to use the potty. Not making it a big deal shortened his potty strike time, and not much time passed before he was back on the potty, and doing fine.
hey, try baking soda paste for your face( add baking soda and water to make a paste and gently wash your face with it a couple times a week) works for some but not for all people.....
As for your hair, i dont have curly hair but i do know a lady who uses a small bit of baby oil in her hair... just enough to keep the frizz away but not so much to make it look yucky...
not sure how old your child is... but for potty training.. i found that making a big deal about it and acting like its fun works for all the kids ive worked with at the daycare, i also got my son this super cute book from barnes and noble about potty training and we read it every night before bed lol... here it is... http://search.barnesandnoble.com/The-Potty-Book-for-Boys/Alyssa-Satin-Capucilli/e/9780764152320
i hope this all helps you a bit:)
Can't help with most of your questions but I have a rather strange solution to your garden question.
It may be strange but I understand your point of view. It's work and money to start a garden. So, here's my suggestion: do you have something you're moving like a canoe you'll be taking with you? Transplant part of the garden into it and take it along.
I can commserate about the dead things in the house. My cats are great little hunters. I just wish they'd leave their kills outside.
You have a unique ability to make me laugh and then tear up with your posts. What a brave kid Em is and I love the fact that she took her daddy doll with her.

Ok sister(you just described me)lol!
I have extremely curly, dry frizzy hair and combination skin. It took me a while to find what worked best on my hair but I totally stand by the frizzease stuff. I use the shampoo, conditioner and the serum every single day. I also use the moose or the spray gel or the straightening gel depending on what I want to do with my hair for the day but I can never go without using the serum or else even a teeny tiny bit of humidity and I look like I have an afro.
For my face I used to use Mary Kay but as you said it didn't always work and I would break out sometimes so I switched and started using clinique and I love it! I use the 3 system just like Mary Kay and have yet to have any issues with it! I do break out(once a month) and use their spot treatment for it and by the end of the day the spot is gone.
Hope this helps!
I don't have the type of curly hair that you do, but mine is still curly, thick, and kinda wiry. I use: Bumble and Bumble Styling Creme for serious hold. I layer B&B Grooming Creme on top of that for softness. B&B Defrizz is amazing also. I use that when my hair is straight too and it's awesome. A little of these products go a long way so that helps too.
I know, you're probably croaking over the price! I do too every time I buy the stuff. But... there are salons everywhere that sell Bumble and Bumble so my suggestion is to go into one of those salons and ask for samples of each. I know where I worked we always kept tons of samples and were more than happy to give them out. Then you'll know if the stuff will work for you before you fork over some serious cash :)
p.s. don't ever mix the grooming creme and the styling creme. the mixture makes cottage cheese - ick! You can mix "Defrizz" with any of it though!

I just went on Amazon because buying some B&B is on my list today. It's cheaper there than on the Bumble website - just a head's up if you try it and like it :)
A friend just suggested using a potty party to encourage the training. Here's a link:

It's an idea and you never know which one will work.

I have zero curly hair advice for you since mine is stick straight.
I do have combination skin, though, and for my face I am old school...Noxema just works the best. In the winter I had to switch because I get too dry here. Burt's Bees Orange Essense facial cleanser worked pretty well.
As far as potty training.. I don't really feel qualified to give advice since I've only trained one kiddo and she was pretty easy. I think a total break from it is a good idea, especially with Gunner leaving. Potty stuff is so hard because it truly is one of those things that you just can't make them do. Like you said, one day it will happen, but I'm guessing only Jr. knows when that day will be!
Such a sweet girl, that Em. I hope she has such a good time!
So I can only answer the potty training question and it really isnt much help. As my face is not liking me stopping and starting hormones and my hair is not curly.
JJ has the worst time training. We tried EVERYTHING we could think of and I was losing my mind. We started when he was around 2. He would get the hang of it and then just stop. We had vistiors in Germany and he didnt want to potty the whole time. Then w moved from Germany to Virginia and he was put in a daycare. He started peeing on the potty at that time beacuse he watched his daycare mates and he thought it was the big boy thing to do. We moved to OK after only a few months in VA and he still wasnt really using the potty.
Finally around 3 1/2 he just said one day Mommy I pooped on the potty! So time was my only answer. He had to do it himself and there was no way I was going to make him do it.
Of course she needs her daddy doll :) JJ is almost 5 and his goes every where with him. I am wondering what he is going to do next month when he starts preschool.
I use just plain witch hazel on a cotton ball for my face. I love it and it has cleared up my face a whole lot.
For the gardening I think getting the plantable pots and transferring your plants in there is probably the best way to go. Then you just plant them -pots and all- in your new place.
My husband has curly hair (pre-army, of course, now he has no hair.) and he just conditioned it and didn't use any shampoo and that kept the frizz away. He also patted his hair dry instead of rubbing it to avoid brushing it alot.
I'm sure since you're so athletic you probably already drink a lot of water but that was the one thing that really stopped me from breaking out.
The best thing I ever did in my life was get my hair chemically straightened. It took a huge amount of stress out of my life and gave me back a huge amount of time. I no longer need to worry about my hair - just wash and go or even brush and go. It is a pain when you get it done - about 4 hours in the chair and then a few days where you can't get it wet but well worth it!!
I like Mary Kay. My sons potty trained on their schedule. There was nothing I could do to hurry them along.
For my face, I have really sensitive skin and I use Neutrogena. It's been really great.
I have reddening and my derm has had me use Cetophil for ten years. It is the gentlest soap. I do not use a wash cloth. Apply by hand and remove with tissues.
My friend's autistic (maybe) son was just toilet trained at 7. Not the same, but might work. The male authority figure sat him down and made him take ownership of the problem, that it was his responsibility to go to the bathroom and stay clean. Now I don't know how to do that, but basically the whole dynamic was changed. The attention to the problem was taken away (kind of what your doc is saying) and replaced with responsibility on the boy. Not the same situation, not a clue how to do it -- but maybe this will give you an idea! :)
You know I am a Mary Kay person so I can't say don't use it, but I can recommend other products within the MK line.
Try switching to the teen product, Velocity or try switching to the older basic line and use #3 for oily skin during the summer or just get the #3 toner to use in the summer along with your regular skin care - use just after cleansing and before moisturizing.
About potty training?? I don't think I am the person to be answering that one. Never quite figured that one out. It all happened by accident.
